On yesterday’s show, I shared tips for using “Transformational Vocabulary” to enhance the quality of your daily life.
We use words and symbols to express how we feeling. Yet, those same words and symbols can intensify those emotional states and drive us to behave in ways that aren’t always desirable.
To figure out what words and symbols you tend to use regularly, answer this question:
Life is…
(example: a dance, a battle, a test, etc.)
Now describe what you’d have to believe in order for that statement to be true. (example: If life were a battle, I’d have to believe I’ve got to constantly fight for what I want in life.)
You’ll have very different experiences if you think life is a “journey” versus “life’s a bit*c and then you die!” Pay attention to the words you’re using to describe situations in your life.
If you want to feel or behave differently, start by improving the way you describe the situation to yourself. Good old fashion “positive thinking” actually works quite well, unless you tell yourself it doesn’t.
