Becoming Unstoppable

Why We Need Core Values!

In this video, Tim Shurr (Human Behavior Specialist, TEDx Speaker, Mesmerizing Leadership Strategist) shares how the Core Values of your company, and family, become your compass for navigating tough decisions and conversations. Your values can also be used as a transformative onboarding experience, as a way to ignite employee engagement, to increate the attraction and retention of top talent, and to improve relationships and effective communication across the board! The best companies and organizations in the world use Core Values to drive operational excellence, customer service and employee satisfaction. This, in turn, drives profitability at a greater rate than any other determining factor! Tim then switches gears and shares how powerful it is to have a clear Mission Statement and set of guiding Core Values for our family and in our marriage (and/or friendships.) Establishing a clear set of agreed upon (co-created) boundaries improves respectful communication, transparency and kindness…especially when…

Are You A “Talker” Or A “Doer?”

Hello Achiever! Ever wonder why I refer to YOU as an “Achiever?” Because your Mindset is more important than any other factor when it comes to goal attainment.  Most of my clients achieve their goals…eventually. Some goals require a larger investment of time and action and it’s your mindset that keeps you going. Of course, I want ALL my clients to succeed. Yet, over the 24 years I’ve been in the coaching profession, I’ve realized that’s not realistic.  Not everyone is willing to do what it takes to turn a want into a reality. Some talk a good game, but then crumble at the first sign of difficulty. They may feel committed, yet they are not devoted. Those who are devoted push back against obstacles until they crumble! These are the “doers.” They take more action, instead of waisting time explaining why it’s so hard to follow through. “Talkers” say things like… I really need to lose this weight…but they don’t…

Chaos VS Peace…Which Do You Have More Of?

Hello Achiever! Do you experience more chaos or peace in your life?  I definitely felt more chaotic for a long time… Even when things were going “well,” something crazy, stressful or frustrating would always pop up and steal my thunder! I’d do everything possible to keep bad things from happening, but it didn’t seem to matter. That’s when I had the BIG “ah-ha!” The things I tried to control were all external. I tried changing how others behaved or I’d avoid situations that felt “bad.” I’d distract myself with work, cleaning the house or watching movies so I didn’t have to deal with the anxiety of the situation.  Yet, because I’m constantly listening to podcasts, attending seminars and hiring coaches to help me increase self-awareness and erase blind spots, I realized the real work needed to be done internally. I had to stop moving away from “bad” situations or feelings and move towards them so I could…

See How Smoking Prematurely Ages the Skin!

See How Smoking Prematurely Ages the Skin (Images) By Anthony Rivas Wed, Oct 30, 2013 There are so many harmful effects caused by smoking that it’s hard to decide where to start listing them. From health complications after surgery to brain damage, and even inflicting harm on our pets, the list can go on. Smoking is also believed to contribute to skin aging, and now a new study on twins shows that smoking can indeed cause premature wrinkling and other characteristics of accelerated aging. Researchers scouted for twins at the annual Twin Days Festival, in Twinsburg, Ohio, to find pairs in which one twin smoked and the other didn’t, or both smoked, but with a five-year difference between initiation. They found 79 twins, of whom 57 were women, altogether with an average age of 48 years old. Close-up photos of each participants face were shown to a group of plastic surgeons, who had no knowledge of each participants’…

Georgia School Shooting Prevented Using Verbal First Aid!

(CNN) — As the kids trooped back into the suburban Atlanta elementary school that was stormed by a gunman earlier this week, everyone was talking about Antoinette Tuff. The bookkeeper, an eight-year veteran of the DeKalb County school district, talked suspect Michael Brandon Hill into surrendering after a brief standoff with police Tuesday afternoon. Faced with an armed 20-year-old who told her he was off his medication for a mental disorder, Tuff shared stories of heartbreak from her own life to help calm him down — a recent divorce, a son with multiple disabilities. Tuff was off Thursday as the students returned to Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy, recovering from a pre-scheduled surgery. But Principal Brian Bolden said he credited Tuff’s quick thinking for avoiding what could have been a major tragedy. “Her name, Antoinette Tuff, says everything about her,” Bolden said. “Tough. She has always been that way…

The Magic Of Thinking Big!

In Earl Nightingale’s classic book, The Strangest Secret, he states, “The thoughts you hold consistently in your mind become your life!” In other words, “What you think about, comes about!“ Want to hear Earl tell you himself? Watch the video above!   Many understand the concept of visualizing what you want, yet few take the time to actually do it. Top athletes understand the power of mental conditioning. We are currently coaching a top 13 year old gymnast whose shooting for the next Olympics. She mentally visualizes routines hundreds of times before doing them. Her body moves too fast to consciously track each movement, so she programs her unconscious mind to “take over”–and it does! I was in Daytona Beach over the weekend presenting at the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists. Although I’m well known as a trainer and speaker, I hadn’t contributed to their magazines or done any of the stuff that typically…
