See How Smoking Prematurely Ages the Skin!

See How Smoking Prematurely Ages the Skin (Images) By Anthony Rivas Wed, Oct 30, 2013 There are so many harmful effects caused by smoking that it’s hard to decide where to start listing them. From health complications after surgery to brain damage, and even inflicting harm on our pets, the list can go on. Smoking is also believed to contribute to skin aging, and now a new study on twins shows that smoking can indeed cause premature wrinkling and other characteristics of accelerated aging. Researchers scouted for twins at the annual Twin Days Festival, in Twinsburg, Ohio, to find pairs in which one twin smoked and the other didn’t, or both smoked, but with a five-year difference between initiation. They found 79 twins, of whom 57 were women, altogether with an average age of 48 years old. Close-up photos of each participants face were shown to a group of plastic surgeons, who had no knowledge of each participants’…

Georgia School Shooting Prevented Using Verbal First Aid!

(CNN) — As the kids trooped back into the suburban Atlanta elementary school that was stormed by a gunman earlier this week, everyone was talking about Antoinette Tuff. The bookkeeper, an eight-year veteran of the DeKalb County school district, talked suspect Michael Brandon Hill into surrendering after a brief standoff with police Tuesday afternoon. Faced with an armed 20-year-old who told her he was off his medication for a mental disorder, Tuff shared stories of heartbreak from her own life to help calm him down — a recent divorce, a son with multiple disabilities. Tuff was off Thursday as the students returned to Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy, recovering from a pre-scheduled surgery. But Principal Brian Bolden said he credited Tuff’s quick thinking for avoiding what could have been a major tragedy. “Her name, Antoinette Tuff, says everything about her,” Bolden said. “Tough. She has always been that way…

The Magic Of Thinking Big!

In Earl Nightingale’s classic book, The Strangest Secret, he states, “The thoughts you hold consistently in your mind become your life!” In other words, “What you think about, comes about!“ Want to hear Earl tell you himself? Watch the video above!   Many understand the concept of visualizing what you want, yet few take the time to actually do it. Top athletes understand the power of mental conditioning. We are currently coaching a top 13 year old gymnast whose shooting for the next Olympics. She mentally visualizes routines hundreds of times before doing them. Her body moves too fast to consciously track each movement, so she programs her unconscious mind to “take over”–and it does! I was in Daytona Beach over the weekend presenting at the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists. Although I’m well known as a trainer and speaker, I hadn’t contributed to their magazines or done any of the stuff that typically…

How Do You Handle Challenges?

Have you ever noticed the moment you decide to take action towards a new goal something attempts to block it? “Today I’m going to exercise!” and then you notice you’re car has a flat tire, your child wakes up sick, or suddenly you remember that newsletter you were supposed to write before going to work! You will be challenged because it’s the OVERCOMING of challenges that builds character and brings rewards! How resourceful do YOU become when challenged? Many people simply quit or put off taking action until the next day. Yet this just sends a message to the brain that your goal isn’t very important, which encourages future procrastination. WHAT IF you decided to find a way to be successful each day no matter what! Japanese grocery stores had a problem. They are much smaller than their US counterparts and therefore don’t have room to waste. Watermelons, big and round, wasted a…

Water or Coke?

Water or Coke? This is really an eye opener…. Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I’ve never seen it written down like this before. WATER 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 30%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen…
